Here are 5 really quick and easy tips to start you on your way to self sufficiency and sustainability. Of course these are just a starting point so go for it. You can definitely do these.
1. Start out small – No matter where you live or what you do we suggest you start out small. Make a plan and then stick to it. Leave the “Go big or go home” mentality by the wayside. Biting off more than you can chew could be the beginning of the end of your plan. Baby steps are easier to take and easier to correct if you find it’s not working as planned.
2. Begin to recycle – It takes 2 or 3 containers to start. These could be garbage cans, recycling containers that your city or town provides, or even cardboard boxes. Hello everyone, Valentines Day and the spring holiday season is closing in fast, and the pace is picking up. In case you missed it, the US (and the rest of the world for that matter)is in a little bit of economic recession right now so this holiday season could be a lean one for most people.
Here at NY Homesteaders homestead we will be making many of our own gifts as we do every year, (I have given my mom a home made gift almost every year since kindergarten) to offset the cost of the holidays.
